U.S. Chamber of Commerce Praises Rep. Dusty Johnson for Defending Pro-Growth Tax Reforms

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Chamber of Commerce issued a statement today applauding U.S. Representative Dusty Johnson (R-SD) for his leadership in championing tax reform policies aimed at supporting small businesses and sustaining economic growth.

Rep. Johnson has taken a leading role in advocating for the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a legislative effort to prevent what the Chamber describes as “the largest automatic tax increase in American history” — the looming expiration of key provisions in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), signed into law during President Trump’s administration.

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce thanks Rep. Johnson for being a leader and fighting for small businesses,” said Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer at the Chamber. “In his district alone, 88,650 small and pass-through businesses stand to benefit from a $156.8 million increase in their qualified business income deduction if this legislation is passed.”

Bradley emphasized that this relief would allow businesses to reinvest in their workforce, expand operations, and plan for the future with more certainty.

The Chamber has made it a top priority to rally support around preserving and extending the pro-business elements of the TCJA, which included lower corporate tax rates and expanded deductions for small businesses. According to the Chamber, these reforms enabled businesses across the country to hire, raise wages, innovate, and invest in long-term growth.

In partnership with state and local chambers, the national business advocacy group is organizing district-level forums to bring together lawmakers and business owners in discussions about tax policy and its local impact.

Recent polling conducted by McLaughlin & Associates for the Chamber reveals broad public support for making tax relief permanent, with voters indicating a preference for candidates who support pro-growth fiscal policies.

Earlier this year, the Chamber spearheaded a joint letter with nearly 500 state and local chambers and trade associations, calling on Congress to permanently extend the TCJA tax reforms. That coalition, representing all 50 states, highlighted the reforms’ role in helping American businesses “achieve their American dream.”

As Congress debates the future of tax policy ahead of year-end deadlines, business leaders and lawmakers alike are watching closely. The Chamber’s message is clear: preserving tax certainty for small businesses isn’t just good economics — it’s essential for continued national prosperity.
