In a recent development, an attorney representing former President Donald Trump aggressively questioned a crucial witness on Tuesday regarding a text message confirming the start date of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ relationship with Nathan Wade.
During Tuesday’s testimony, Terrence Bradley, Wade’s former law partner and divorce attorney, acknowledged that he was “speculating” when he sent a text to Ashleigh Merchant, the attorney for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman. In the text, Bradley indicated that Willis’ relationship with Wade began years before his hiring. Trump’s attorney, Steve Sadow, probed Bradley on why he would speculate about such information, particularly when Merchant was seeking to establish the timeline for her motion to disqualify the district attorney.
The text, read during the hearing, stated that the relationship commenced when Willis left the DA’s office and became a judge in South Fulton. Bradley asserted that they met at a municipal court CLE conference.
Despite Willis and Wade consistently asserting that their relationship began in 2022 after Wade was hired as a special prosecutor for the Trump case, Bradley’s text seemed to suggest otherwise.
WATCH:
Bradley had previously appeared as a witness earlier in the month but declined to answer most questions citing attorney-client privilege. Judge Scott McAfee ordered Bradley back to the stand after determining in a closed-door meeting that certain communications between Bradley and Wade were not protected by attorney-client privilege.
Sadow pressed Bradley on why he would make speculative claims about the start of Willis and Wade’s relationship if he wasn’t certain of the facts. Bradley responded, “I have no answer for that.” Sadow suggested that Bradley may be withholding testimony because he does know the actual start date.
Throughout the hearing, Bradley consistently claimed he could “not recall” answers to questions posed by defense attorneys, including when he became aware of the relationship between Willis and Wade.
