Once synonymous with wholesome family entertainment, Disney’s recent shift toward left-wing activism has opened the door for conservative competitors. The Daily Wire’s Bentkey, known for its apolitical children’s programming, is set to release “Snow White and the Evil Queen” in 2024, aiming to provide a traditional take on the classic fairytale.
Disney’s departure from its heritage to embrace left-wing activism is evident in its live-action remake of “Snow White,” featuring multi-ethnic dwarves with ambiguous genders, a Snow White critical of the patriarchy, and a queen portrayed as evil due to her beauty. In response, The Daily Wire’s film promises to deliver the “Snow White” that aligns with classic storytelling, offering a fresh alternative to Disney’s approach.
Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boreing, highlighting the film’s announcement on the 100th anniversary of Disney’s founding, criticized Disney for abandoning its legacy. Boreing emphasized that while Disney uses Walt’s name, it has forsaken his tradition of telling stories based on timeless truths. He described Disney’s new “Snow White” as an apology for the past, introducing destructive lies to children.
The Bentkey version is positioned as a narrative about a princess and a prince, exploring themes of beauty, vanity, and the transformative power of love. Boreing stressed that it represents their adaptation of an ancient fairy tale centered on timeless truths.
The announcement seems to have rattled Disney, prompting the company to delay its own “Snow White” just 11 days after Bentkey’s trailer release. The CGI-altered dwarves in Disney’s revised version suggest a subtle admission that the original direction faced criticism.
The distinction between the two films is further emphasized by the casting choices for Snow White. While Bentkey’s film aims to restore traditional storytelling, Disney’s casting of Rachel Zegler reflects a woke interpretation where Snow White focuses on leadership rather than traditional love themes.
Disney’s continued production of woke propaganda may pose a threat to its legacy, as alternative providers like The Daily Wire gain traction. As more audiences discover alternatives for children’s content, Disney could find it challenging to salvage its reputation.
