Washington, D.C. — A new grassroots movement, “Swifties for Kamala,” has emerged as a powerful force in the 2024 election, rallying Taylor Swift fans to support Vice President Kamala Harris. The group quickly gained traction following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race.
Emerald Medrano, a 22-year-old Swift fan from Texas, launched the initiative on the same day Biden exited the race. Medrano’s goal is to mobilize fellow Swifties to campaign for Harris and counter the influence of Project 2025.

“We need to push blue votes and defend democracy,” Medrano wrote on social media, urging fans to take action. Within a week and a half, “Swifties for Kamala” established a Discord server with over 300 members and amassed tens of thousands of followers across various social media platforms. The group has already caught the attention of Harris’ campaign.
Harris’ campaign has expressed appreciation for the support from Swifties. “Having that support from the Harris campaign is really exciting and fun,” Medrano said, noting the group’s enthusiasm for the endorsement.
The group’s strategy includes leveraging Swift’s “Eras Tour,” which will visit key battleground states—Florida, Louisiana, and Indiana—before Election Day. They plan to synchronize campaign events with the tour and encourage concertgoers to register to vote.

Although Taylor Swift has not officially endorsed a candidate for the 2024 election, and her team has yet to respond to the group’s outreach, fans remain hopeful. Swift has become increasingly vocal about her political views in recent years, endorsing Biden in 2020 and criticizing former President Trump.
“Swifties for Kamala” are forging ahead regardless of Swift’s direct involvement. Co-founder Carly Long emphasized the group’s independence and commitment to mobilizing the fanbase. “It would be great if Taylor endorsed, but we’re not waiting for that. We have the power within our own community to make a difference.”
The group’s grassroots efforts highlight the potential influence of celebrity fanbases in shaping political campaigns and driving voter turnout.
