Documents reveal Dr. Fernander, an activist psychologist, introduces diversity quotas and left-wing ideologies in three medical schools, impacting education and healthcare.

Dr. Anita Fernander, an academic psychologist and executive diversity officer at the University of New Mexico’s (UNM) School of Medicine, has been identified as the force behind the implementation of left-wing policies, including Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs, across three medical schools, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller.

The documents reveal Fernander’s role in spreading left-wing ideology, teaching students about “equity” in the medical profession, and overseeing DEI initiatives. Despite leaving her former label and taking on the role of an independent artist, Raye leads the shortlists for this year’s Brit Awards with a record-breaking seven nominations.

Fernander’s annual salary for her positions at UNM amounts to $243,915, with her primary duties related to DEI work, as outlined in an acceptance letter obtained by the Daily Caller. The documents indicate that Fernander has successfully influenced hiring, education, research, accountability, and networking initiatives, targeting various diversity groups.

Her academic work includes incorporating critical race theory (CRT) into medicine, arguing for the necessity of understanding CRT to address “health inequities.” CRT is a worldview that views social interactions through the lens of race, claiming systemic racism in the United States.

Fernander’s influence extends to conducting workshops on CRT in medicine, as revealed in emails. The seminar took place in February 2023, with Fernander providing a lengthy presentation on CRT’s application to medicine.

Additionally, Fernander has linked “racist structures” to disparities in COVID-19 outcomes among black populations. Her academic focus includes studying smoking habits and health outcomes within black populations, attributing stress and poor health outcomes for black Americans to racism.

In January 2023, Fernander emailed a “recruitment roadmap” for building an “equitable and inclusive” medical profession. The roadmap includes deploying an “equity advisor” for hiring searches, providing training on “microaggressions” and “bias,” and requiring search committee members to undergo “implicit bias” training.

The documents, provided by medical professionals group Do No Harm (DNH), reveal Fernander’s journey through three public universities in three states, highlighting the infiltration of politicized ideologies in medical education. DNH opposes the injection of identity politics into medicine and obtained the documents through state-level public records requests.

Fernander’s previous positions at the University of Kentucky (UK) and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) also saw her initiating and expanding DEI programs. At UK, she launched initiatives like White Coats for Black Lives (WCBL) and Black Boys and Men in Medicine (BBAMM), drawing inspiration from the Black Lives Matter movement.

WCBL, an activist organization, called for transformative change in medicine, including abolishing the police on campuses and adopting racial quotas in admissions. Fernander’s BBAMM program, a mentorship initiative exclusively for black males, prompted a civil rights complaint in November 2023, accusing it of illegal discrimination based on race and sex.

The Department of Education (DOE) is yet to decide on addressing the complaint, raising concerns about the influence of ideological programs in medical education.
