Post-Super Bowl Drama Unfolds as 49ers Players Engage in Social Media Spats

Following their heart-wrenching Super Bowl LVIII loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, multiple San Francisco 49ers players found themselves embroiled in public social media feuds with fellow NFL stars.

Cornerback Charvarius Ward kicked off the online altercation, responding to Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner’s seemingly innocuous praise of the Chiefs. Ward, per ML Football, replied with a now-deleted tweet, stating, “Boy yo ass ain’t never sniffed the playoffs, you watching from the couch.

Worry bout the sorry ass JETS.” Ward continued to criticize Gardner, asserting, “Everybody got something to say about the team in the Super Bowl. Your opinion doesn’t need to be heard, kid.” Gardner, unaware of Ward’s response, later addressed the situation, noting 49ers fans’ discontent and emphasizing his view of the 49ers as an elite team.

The drama extended beyond cornerbacks, with All-Pro Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox taking a swipe at 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel on Instagram. Cox, seemingly eager to retaliate after Samuel downplayed the Eagles as rivals, posted clown emojis directed at Samuel, along with a message to “keep the EAGLES OUT CHO MOUTH BOE.”

In a subsequent post, Cox referenced his Super Bowl ring, emphasizing possessions Samuel lacked and expressing his long-awaited desire to call out Samuel.

The off-field tensions have added a spicy layer to the NFL narrative, offering drama post-Super Bowl and setting the stage for potential rivalry sparks when the 49ers and Eagles face off in the future.
