Nikki Haley Firmly Rejects Vice Presidential Role with Trump in 2024

Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley provided her most unequivocal response on Friday regarding the possibility of being former President Donald Trump’s running mate if he secures the GOP nomination in 2024, according to Politico.

Despite consistently asserting that she does not aspire to be anyone’s vice president, Haley had previously avoided explicitly ruling out the option. However, during a visit to a New Hampshire diner, she firmly declared that being Trump’s vice president “is off the table,” as reported by Politico.

From the outset, Haley has emphasized that she is not interested in being a vice president, stating, “I don’t play for second.” Her stance aligns with other GOP figures like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who have also ruled out the possibility of being Trump’s running mate.

Haley served as U.N. ambassador in the Trump administration for nearly two years before resigning in late 2018 to join the private sector. While she secured third place in the Iowa caucuses, trailing behind DeSantis and Trump, she faces a significant gap of nearly 14 points behind Trump in the RealClearPolitics average for New Hampshire ahead of the primary. Despite her current position, Haley is polling second for her home state’s primary on Feb. 24.

In response to queries about her vice-presidential ambitions, Haley told local station WMUR on Tuesday, “I do not want to be vice president. Period. I don’t know how many more times I can say that.” The Trump campaign has not immediately responded to requests for comments on Haley’s latest remarks.
