Several senior operatives from Mark Robinson’s campaign for North Carolina governor have resigned just days after CNN reported inflammatory comments he made on a pornographic website message board. Among those stepping down are general consultant Conrad Pogorzelski III, campaign manager Chris Rodriguez, and finance director Heather Whillier, all confirming their departures to CNN.
The resignations follow revelations that Robinson, the lieutenant governor and Republican nominee, posted lewd comments under the username “minisoldr,” including references to himself as a “black Nazi” and support for reinstating slavery. Robinson has a history of controversial statements, but these newly surfaced posts have escalated concerns.
Despite evidence linking him to the messages, Robinson denied making the comments, calling them “salacious tabloid lies.” The North Carolina GOP continues to support him, claiming the remarks are part of a leftist attack against him. However, some party members have urged him to withdraw, even as the deadline for doing so has passed.
Robinson remains committed to his campaign, expressing confidence in his support among undecided voters as the election approaches. He notably did not attend a recent rally featuring former President Trump, who had previously praised Robinson in glowing terms.
