Incident Near El Paso, Texas Shows Illegal Immigrants Overwhelming National Guard at Border

A video captured near El Paso, Texas, depicts a group of illegal immigrants tearing down a barrier and overpowering members of the Texas National Guard as they surged across the border.

In the footage shared on Twitter by former Daily Caller News Foundation reporter Jennie Taer, now with the New York Post, the illegal immigrants are observed forcibly opening the barrier while four National Guardsmen attempt to prevent their entry. The migrants swiftly pass through the breached barrier, nearly trampling the National Guard personnel, until encountering a second, more robust barrier.

Texas has been engaged in disputes with the Biden administration regarding the state’s endeavors to curb illegal immigration. Legislation permitting state and local law enforcement to detain illegal immigrants has been put on hold by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Republican Governor Greg Abbott has mobilized the state’s National Guard to aid in erecting barriers to thwart illegal entry, particularly at locations like Eagle Pass, identified as a significant area for unlawful crossings.

According to United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), over 6.6 million encounters with illegal immigrants have been reported since the commencement of fiscal year 2021, with over 2.2 million occurring in fiscal year 2022. President Biden reversed several policies enacted by the Trump administration upon assuming office.
