House Committee Releases Documents on IRS Whistleblowers’ Testimony on Biden Business Dealings

The House Ways and Means Committee has made public documents following a closed-door hearing with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler. The whistleblowers provided testimony on Hunter and Joe Biden’s “business dealings,” discussing private tax records protected under Section 6103 of the tax code. The committee released the testimony and 12 additional documents totaling 56 pages reviewed during the executive session.

Chairman Jason Smith emphasized that the documents offer evidence contradicting President Biden’s claim that he knew nothing about his son’s business dealings. The evidence reveals over 50 one-on-one emails exchanged between Joe Biden and his son’s business partner, Eric Schwerin, during Biden’s tenure as Vice President. The activity reportedly increased around the times Biden traveled to Ukraine.

The House Ways and Means Committee, along with the House Judiciary Committee and House Oversight Committee, released a detailed report ahead of the closed-door hearing, outlining deviations from standard procedures by the Department of Justice (DOJ) in handling the Hunter Biden case. These committees are leading an impeachment inquiry into President Biden’s alleged involvement in his son’s foreign business dealings.

The IRS whistleblowers, Shapley and Ziegler, previously testified in June, accusing the DOJ of granting Hunter Biden special treatment in the investigation of his taxes and a firearm purchase. The ongoing inquiry aims to uncover the extent of the Biden family’s connections to foreign sources, particularly focusing on their involvement with Ukrainian energy company Burisma, where Hunter Biden served on the board.
