Fox News Anchor Challenges Nikki Haley’s Assertion that Only Media is Discussing Civil War Gaffe

Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner pushed back against Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley’s assertion that only the media is discussing her recent Civil War gaffe. Haley faced criticism for omitting slavery as a cause of the Civil War during a town hall in New Hampshire on December 27.

Contrary to Haley’s claim that no one on the ground in Iowa or New Hampshire is talking about it, Faulkner disputed, saying, “Not one person on the ground in Iowa, not one person on the ground in New Hampshire or Iowa are talking about it.”

Haley defended herself, emphasizing her extensive town hall experience and addressing the deep historical context in South Carolina, including her response to a shooting involving an unarmed black man. She highlighted her role in passing the first body camera bill and bringing down the Confederate flag.

Despite acknowledging her mistake and expressing regret for not mentioning slavery in her initial response, Haley labeled the questioner at the town hall as a “Democrat plant.” She asserted this claim, emphasizing that the individual refused to answer and didn’t provide reporters with his name.

In a New Hampshire radio show interview, Haley explained her decision not to mention slavery, stating that she sought to discuss its relevance “for us today.” The exchange underscores ongoing discussions around Haley’s handling of the Civil War question, despite her efforts to address and rectify the situation.
