Former Employee of DA Fani Willis Providing Information to House Republicans, Says Jordan

A former employee of the Fulton County District Attorney’s office is cooperating with House Republicans as they probe potential misuse of federal funds by the office, according to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).

During an interview on Fox News, Jordan revealed that his office has been in contact with the whistleblower, who has been providing information both to the press and to the committee. The revelation comes in the wake of a report from the Washington Free Beacon, which highlighted the Department of Justice’s acknowledgment of potential misuse of federal funding by District Attorney Fani Willis.

Ms. Willis’s office is currently prosecuting former President Donald Trump and several others over allegations of illegal election interference. Trump has maintained his innocence, accusing Willis’s office of attempting to sway the outcome of the 2024 election, in which he is a candidate.

Responding to the allegations, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice stated that they had identified inconsistencies in Fulton County’s reporting of federal funds and were working with the office to rectify the situation. However, specific details were not disclosed.

Despite these developments, Ms. Willis has yet to publicly address the allegations. Efforts by The Epoch Times to obtain comment from her office have so far been unsuccessful.

Earlier this year, Chairman Jordan issued a subpoena to Ms. Willis’s office, seeking documents related to the potential misuse of federal funds in connection with the Trump case. The subpoena referenced reports of a former employee who had raised concerns about the misuse of funds intended for gang prevention efforts. According to the report, the employee was demoted and later terminated after warning Ms. Willis about the alleged misuse.

In response to the subpoena, Ms. Willis criticized the investigation, stating that it diverted resources from the office’s primary focus of prosecuting crime. She reaffirmed her commitment to pursuing the Trump case, despite the subpoena.

These developments occur amid ongoing legal battles surrounding the Trump case. While a judge ruled that there was no conflict of interest requiring Ms. Willis to step down, questions about the prosecution’s impartiality persist. The case remains ongoing, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming weeks.

The Court of Appeals has yet to decide whether to take up the matter, with Judge McAfee indicating his intention to proceed with the case regardless. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
