New revelations from a book allege that Senator Lindsey Graham embraced Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after providing testimony in the case against former President Donald Trump.
A recently revealed book, “Find Me the Votes: A Hard-Charging Georgia Prosecutor, a Rogue President, and the Plot to Steal an American Election” by Michael Isikoff and Daniel Klaidmanin, details an encounter where Senator Lindsey Graham purportedly embraced Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Willis is prosecuting Trump and others on charges related to an alleged scheme to overturn Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results and filing false documents.
The book claims that Graham, who initially supported Trump’s efforts before acknowledging Joe Biden’s victory, testified before the grand jury on November 22, 2022. According to the book, Graham abruptly changed his stance during the testimony, describing it as him “turn[ing] on a dime and throw[ing] Trump under the bus.” After the testimony, Graham allegedly attempted to hug Willis, expressing relief by saying, “That was so cathartic… I feel so much better.”
A witness described the encounter as Graham thanking Willis for the opportunity to tell his story and attempting to hug her, to which Willis reportedly responded with a dismissive attitude. The book also suggests that Graham disparaged Trump’s character during his testimony, implying that Trump cheated at golf and was gullible.
Kevin Bishop, a spokesperson for Graham, dismissed the book’s claims, stating, “Senator Graham never spoke with the authors, and what they are selling is pretty much total and complete BS.” Bishop added that Graham has no issue with his testimony being made public and is not scheduled to be a witness in the trial.
Graham had attempted to avoid testifying before the grand jury by invoking his congressional immunity, but the Supreme Court rejected his effort. Since the indictment of Trump, Willis has faced accusations of misusing public funds and hiring a romantic partner as a special prosecutor. Investigations into her conduct have been initiated by the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary and proposed in the Georgia state Senate. Fulton County Commissioner has also requested documents to review her office’s spending.
Senator Graham has endorsed Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign. Neither Willis nor Trump’s campaign has responded to requests for comment.
