“Biden Firm on Staying in Presidential Race Despite Calls to Step Aside”

WASHINGTON — Biden Vows to Stay in Presidential Race Despite Calls to Step Aside

President Joe Biden reaffirmed his commitment to continue his presidential campaign, dismissing calls from some Democrats urging him to withdraw from the race.

In a letter addressed to congressional Democrats on Monday, Biden asserted, “I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump.” The letter, released as lawmakers returned from recess, comes amid growing pressure on Biden to consider stepping aside, including from top Democrats on several House committees.

Biden’s resolve comes despite recent challenges, including criticism following a debate performance where he appeared to struggle. In a recent interview with ABC News, Biden remarked that only divine intervention could convince him to leave the race.

Acknowledging concerns within the party about the election’s stakes, Biden stated, “I’ve had ‘extensive’ conversations with Democrats since then and understood their ‘good faith fears and worries.'” Emphasizing his belief in his candidacy, Biden argued that voters had chosen him and challenged efforts to question his leadership.

“The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it’s time for it to end. We have one job. And that is to beat Donald Trump,” Biden concluded in his letter, urging unity within the party.
