President Joe Biden’s reelection efforts, alongside the Democratic National Committee (DNC), are seeing a surge in fundraising, outstripping former President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee, as per Politico reports.
During February, Biden’s campaign amassed $21 million, accumulating a substantial $71 million in cash reserves, as disclosed by Politico. With DNC contributions, the Biden team boasts a hefty $97.5 million cash reserve as of February 2024, while Trump and the RNC sit at $44.8 million, according to Politico.
In January, Biden’s reelection campaign netted $42 million, amassing a total of $130 million by month’s end. In contrast, RNC filings with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) showed a mere $8 million in cash reserves by the end of 2023. Trump’s campaign closed 2023 with $33 million in hand. At the time of Biden’s January disclosure, neither party had unveiled their figures, as Axios noted.
Trump’s fundraising efforts have grappled with significant legal expenses, reportedly exceeding $50 million over the past year, Axios revealed.
Despite Biden’s financial edge, polling indicates challenges for the president, with Trump leading by up to 11 points in hypothetical matchups across key swing states, according to a January Redfield & Wilton Strategies survey. Moreover, Biden witnessed no uptick in his approval ratings post-State of the Union address, a moment anticipated as a potential reset by his campaign.
With persisting concerns over his age and low approval ratings, Biden faces an uphill battle. A February 6 NBC poll revealed that 76% of Americans harbor worries about Biden’s health ahead of the 2024 election.
